Was the KingTiger turet faster than the Tiger 1? How did it compare to the t-34?

Tiger I was 60 seconds (see Panzer Aces by Franz Kurowski)

Tiger II I think was about 90 seconds, not sure though

Highest possible 360 degree turn was:

Tiger I: 60 seconds
Tiger II: nine seconds

Yes between 5-6 times faster! Are you sure the figures are correct?

That's got to be a typo. Even modern vehicles can't traverse that fast with hydraulic power!

I'm sure its a typo. All sources I have list the maximum turret speed for the Tiger II at 19 seconds for 360 degrees.

The Tiger II was fitted with an improved hydraulic motor than the one on the Tiger I. Also, I believe the Tiger II's turret was more balanced than the Tiger I's.

It's no typo. This is for maximum RPM, but still possible. Incidently, it is the same speed as the Leopard 2...

Leopard 2A6 are no less armoured than M1A2's.. roughly the same weight and size. Dunno about the protection lvl on the M1HA as they have DU armour as well.

9 seconds.. are u sure about that? Seems awfully fast.

I assume thats why Christian put nine instead of 9 so people cant think it was a typo. How about the turret speeds of other WW2 tanks... where can i get info for that? It's a bit of topic

Were they really handcranked? Wouldn't that be very slow?

They did have an engine to help the traverse, hoever test in the US showed it was of a terrible quality, and would start making sparks and smoke when started.

The turret could be traverser by hand, but this was very slow...
