Here there are two good maps:

PS I don't know other good links in English. The only ones I can suggest are in Italian (and are really very good):

The British and the Germans, equally used this large (7,000 square miles) of salt lake and marsh land to their advantage. It was a natural defensive barrier....I guess you could safety say it was like quicksand. So it was generally impassable to military vehicles, especially tanks!Linlu wrote:hi all,
I have a question, the Qattara Depression to the south of the El Alamein battleground... what was the terrain like there?
You are lucky : recently the outstandinge site by Dr. Leo Niehorster http://www.orbat.com/site/ww2/drleo/index.htm has returned on-line. Here you may read the best and most detailed OOB for El-Alamein that I know: http://www.orbat.com/site/ww2/drleo/500 ... frica.html.Linlu wrote:btw, does anyone have a detailed OoB of the Axis and Allied forces at El Alamein? The link provided by DrG is pretty good, but its a general OoB...
