Hi, I'll begin with the 1st Divisione Alpina "Taurinense".

First of all it must be said that Taurinense and Pusteria were not Mountain Division in the official nomenclature. They were Alpini Divisions. Regio Esercito had in its OoBs some Infantry Division called "Mountain" (the main difference between a "normal" Infantry and a mountain Inf. is that the arty Rgt of the latter had one or two packed arty groups), and tehy were not the same as Alpini.

That said here's an OoB for 1a Divisione Alpina "Taurinense" (beginning of 1942): CO Gen. Lorenzo Vivalda

3° Reggimento Alpini (3rd Alpini Regiment) CO Col. Maggiorino Anfosso

Alpini Btl Pinerolo CO Maj. Rocco Montù

Alpini Btl Fenestrelle CO Maj. Franco Nasso

Alpini Btl Exilles CO Lt. Col. Armando Farinacci

4° Reggimento Alpini (4th Alpini Regiment) CO Col. Alessandro Fiorio di San Cassiano

Alpini Btl Ivrea CO Lt. Col. Carlo Vittorio Musso

Alpini Btl Aosta CO Maj. Tito Corsini

Alpini Btl Intra CO Maj. Alfredo Cosenza

1° Reggimento Artiglieria Alpina (1st Alpine Artillery Regiment) CO Col. Germano Beccaria

Alpine Arty. Group Susa CO Capt. Ugo Rabino Bolley

Alpine Arty. Group Aosta CO Maj. Carlo Ravnich

1° Battaglione Misto Genio (Engeneer Btl) CO Maj. Giuseppe Robotti

I have to go, right now. As soon as I collect it, I'll post the "Pusteria" Oob.

Best regards

mmm...I'm perplexed

a) it's first time I hear about a commando group connected with taurinense
b) taurinense had few connections with germans during WWII
c)it's frequent mistake in anglos to confond the word "comando" (one "m") and "commando" (two "m") which have different meaning
d) italian WWII shields are rare

it would be better you try to post here a pic of the object...

all right. That's simply the standard sleeve shield for 1st alpine division "Taurinense". No connection of any kind with germans. Note that this kind of stuff had been in use from 1934 to 1940, after that they had been abolished and it's very rare to see them on italian wartime uniforms.
