Does anyone has any info, how many Olympic winners were serving in German Armed forces (WH and W-SS) during WWII?

On a recent trek to Tolz I unexpectedly bumbled upon the grave of Hermann v Oppeln-Bronikowski RK EL SW and his daughter behind the SS- Junkerschule. I believe he was an Olympic Gold medal winner 1936.

Nevertheless he made a combat jump to Crete.

To my knowledge, Rolf Lippert was KIA 1 April 45.

Say Timo , were any of the aforementioned Waffen SS , or mostly Heer ?

Thanks

Lieutenant Gerhard Stöck won a gold medal for javelin-throwing in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was a officer in the Sixth Army and was attached to the Romanian Third Army in the Kletskaya sector. This was durin the fall/winter of 1942.

Max Schmeling never competed at the Olympics. Germany (as well as her Allies - Austria, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Hungary) were not invited to compete in the 1920 Antwerp, or 1924 Paris games.

Schmeling was more suited to professional boxing, he did not have a good Amateur career - losing against Willy Louis for the championship of Western Germany, and losing to Otto Knispel in the finals of the German Championships not long after. (1924)
He fought Willy Louis twice a pro, knocking him out both times in the 1st. round.

Matt.
