Oberst Erhard Grosan - Information / Photo Request

#1

Post by kgwilliams » 09 Apr 2004, 22:34

Can anyone help with some information or photos of a certain Oberst Erhard Grosan.

Oberst Grosan was the last Commander of the Panzer Truppen Schule at Bergen-Belsen and then went on to form the Kampfgruppe Grosan in April 1945.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Keith

Well , the book where I saw this picture mentioned that Grosan was "Kriegsversehrt" when he was sent to Panzertruppenschule Bergen . Could anybody provide where ( and in which unit ) he was so severly wounded ?

Hi all,
I have no info on what unit Grosan was wounded, but can add this at one time Kdr. Pz.Jäg.Abt. 11, promoted to Oberst 01.06.1943 (52b), no DKiG or Silver, but awarded KC 09.05.1945 (illegal award !).

Schönburg-Waldenburg - no DKiG or Silver, but awarded KC as Hptm and Chef 1./Pz.Rgt. 31 (18.05.1941), 01.02.1943 promoted Major (35) as Kdr. Pz.Rgt. 31, promoted Obstlt 01.06.1944, Kia Tilly 11.06.1944

Zwierzynski - Kdr. Pz.Gren.Rgt. 93, promoted to Major (2) (01.11.1942). No DKiG or KC

Thanks Harmel , thats great !!
My additions about Grosan ( I have found so far ) :
- between May 1942 und July 1943 Kdr. of Panzerlehrregiment , before that Kdr. of III./PzLhrRgt.
- In March 1945 received the Order from stellv. GenKdo XI to build up Panzerdivsion "Bergen" ( which I still "hunt" :D ) . Ended as "Kampfgruppe Grosan" ...

Taken from : Helmut Ritgen : "Die Panzertruppenschulen des Heeres"

Oberst Grosan is not / no more a KC-holder !!
Only the proposal for the award - ready for signature - was prepared by the HPA / A.
Years later the award was done by the OdR according the never legally existing "Dönitz-Erlass" (so the classification for the OdR).

Only mentioned that because both Ulrich Saft and Helmut Ritgen credited them als RKT ,but as their books were published in the 80s I can live with that

Left uns the question why Grosan returned to Panzertruppenschule as a "Kriegsversehrter" , that must have happened during the time at PzJgAbt. 11 that harmel mentioned .

Concerning Prinz von SCHÖNBURG-WALDENBURG : the promotion date for Oberstleutnant, could it be that it is incorrect, because I found in my litterature that he was promoted to this rank posthumusly (so after 11.06.1944)?

Cheers,
Steiner

Ritgen writes "...seine Beförderung zum Oberstleutnant hat der Prinz nicht mehr erlebt" , will say he fell before being promoted .
