Four Tank-Men & a Dog (Polish WW2 action series)

Postby kobold on 11 Apr 2004 02:53

I am downlaoding a couple of episodes of this series to check out when i am up and about again.

has anyone seen it?

"The Soviet Union, 1943.
Four men and a dog join the newly-formed 1st Armoured
Brigade of the 1st Polish Army, the Heroes of Westerplatte.
We follow their adventures, in a T-34/85 tank called Rudy, from
enlistment to the fall of Berlin.

This realistic, location-shot series utilises much original hardware
and was a huge popular success in Poland, where home-grown heroes
reminded the people that they weren't simply slaves of the Soviet empire.

Sounds interesting.

Might I enquire as to where you're getting these episodes from? Are they dubbed or subtitled?

This film is worth of downloading. I have the last part of this film (21st) on my computer. You can find the parts of it by for example Overnet. Just write: "Czterej pancerni i pies" and search. I have watched this film many times since my childhood and I like it very much. If you have any questions just ask me.

I'll try to find the subtitles for you, but I couldn't find them until now. I suppose Polish is similar to Swahili for you

I don't have it, but I know it by hard. However it would be very difficult to translate it and I have to learn Math, C++ and MS Excel Math functions :( You have it in Polish:
Deszcze niespokojne
Potargały sad
A my na tej wojnie
Ładnych parę lat
Do domu wrócimy
W piecu napalimy
Nakarmimy psa
Przed nocą zdążymy
Tylko zwyciężymy
A to ważna gra
Na niebie obłoki
Po wsiach pełno bzu
Gdzież ten świat daleki
Pełen dobrych snów
Powrócimy wierni
My czterej pancerni
Rudy i nasz pies
My czterej pancerni
Powrócimy wierni
Po wiosenny bez

I'd like to recommend you a film "Stawka większa niż życie". I found English subtitles for it. Shortly: its about a Polish secret servive officer who wears German uniform. He is a Polish counterpart of James Bond :) This film is very worth of downloading :) In my opinion its the best Polish war film. Simply type "Stawka" in Overnet or E-donkey and search.

Four men, Stawka...17 moments

Postby Kessler on 19 Apr 2004 08:35

Four men, Stawka...17 Moments... were shown on the Finnish television in the 1970´s. I missed "Four men" (titled Armoured Battaillon) because it was on TV2 and being a landlubber had access to TV1 only. Stawka (titled
Double i.e. Doppelgänger) was one of my favorites in the early 1970´s.
Stanislaw Nikulski was exellent, and cannot forget Barbara Brylska...

The Soviet "17 moments" was shown twice, it was too slow for my taste.

Very interesting.

Might I ask when these were filmed? I get the impression that four tankers was filmed in the sixties or seventies. Can anyone pin these programmes down a little more precisely?

Kobold - the pictures you posted of the four men remind me soo much of Allo Allo...

"Four tankers and a dog" was filmed in 1967 if I remember well. All the three films are worth of buying or downloading.
Zygmunt, what is your Polish? Do you speak it well?
