Dug-In Panther Turrets

#1

Post by Aristotle » 15 Apr 2004, 08:12

I realise this is a bit off topic but I couldn't think of anywhere else to post it

I am wondering if anyone has, or can direct me to, any images of dug-in Panther turrets used as static defence guns in Italy, the west, Russia and the Siegfried Line.

Any help would be reatly appreciated :D

Sorry Nacho ,but only the first picture is of a Pantherturm-Pantherstellung.
The other are from complete Panthers that came from factories and that were buried in the streets of several German Cities as strongpoints.
The hull was complete without engine and roadwheels ,and sides were covered with cobblestone from the same street to improve protection.
The last picture was a surprise to me because- allthought I have allready seen it- I had only seen the cropped version and I thought until now it was a genuine Pantherstellung.I think it was footed at Berlin and you can see the sides of the hull with the spare track holders and the plated over engine bay...Thanks for the picture

Thanks guys :D

The pictures are great. I have been interested in the dug-in panthers for a while, but now I am trying to model some for wargaming, so I need something I can work off.

Thanks again, and please I'll be happy to see as many as you feel like posting :D

The are also used at the Westwall
These turrets were very effective if there was AT-guns and infantry for flank protection.

There are different versions.
Panther turret with concret steel
Panther turret with steel box
Panther turret with wooden "shelter" (But not with the round wood as you can see on the IBA-home page. This is a version for an other tank turret but never used with a Panther turret).

Hello.
I do like the pictures in this tread, but i have a question that might seem odd.
In picture 2 and 3 from top there is a animal(?) sitting(?) on the barrel...
Obviously the same turret.
So my question is, stupid as i can get it, is it a cat or a escaped monkey from the Berlin zoo...?

Stril,
good eye, I didn't catch that critter on the barrel the first time. It does look like a monkey of some sort. How strange.
