Russo-Polish War 1919-1921

Irish liberation war againts the Britts 1912-1922. After that:

Irish Civil War 1922-1923.

French and Belgian troops occupy the Ruhr in Germany in 1923.

Chiang Kai-shek`s nationalist forces take over the major cities of China 1927-28.

Japanese invasion to Manchuria, China in 1931.

The Chago war between Bolivia and Paraguay 1932-35.

Italian army invades Abyssinia in 1935.

Spanish civil war 1936-1939

The war between China and Japan 1937-1945.

Hello:

You can add the small but historically significant uprising in Croatia against the Yugoslav government (lead by the UHRO - Ustasa Hrvatska Revolucionarna Organizacija [Ustasa Croatian Revolutionary Organization]), that culminated with the so-called "Velebit Rebellion" of 1932 and the assasination of Yugoslav King Aleksandar in 1934.

There was another Finnish volunteer expedition in 1921-22 to Olonets to support a popular rising against the Soviet regime.

I`ll add something. When Germans walked into Czechoslovakia in March 1938, except Romania (right?) bitting off a part of that country, also polish troops (!!!!) invaded and took city of Cieszyn and its surroundings.

I bet most of you didn`t realize that on the eve of war Poland actually attacked another country :)

Why did it happen? Czechoslovakia invaded the same city during Russo-polish war when (and that`s another conflict) all polish forces were busy on the eastern front. There`s an interesting history behind that, some ill equipped polish volounteers defending that city from Czech forces for few days before they had to retreat. So polish 'invasion' (too big word) from the end of 1938 was a form of revenge for the previous czech attack.

It was rather a fulitle victory, as it was similiar to kicking someone already laying on the ground. Poland would do better by supporting Masaryks government against Hitler. Especially that world media didn`t like the polish attack on Cieszyn.

On a sidenote. From 1919 to 1921 there were 3 polish uprisings in Silesia. The outcome was that whole northern part of it, with important mines and factories went to Poland.

Ah, my bad. It was Hungary not Romania who took part of Czechoslovakia in 1938.

The most important Battle is the Soviet-Polish War. Pilsudski and Weygand beat those Soviet advancing in Warsaw. It is called "The Miracle of the Vistula". It prevailed the invasion of the Red Army in Western Europe.

Liluh also pointed out the border conflict between the Germans and the Poles in Silesia (1919-1921) The brutality and savagery of those Battle in Silesia was really fierce on both sides. Those Battle in Silesia are unknown in North America.

Columbian-Peruvian Border War 1922

Postby Alter Mann on 21 May 2004 16:59

I read a book many years ago about the history of all of the South American military organizations from the time of colonization to some time in the 1960s I think. It was a fascinating book with a lot of interesting data and I wish I could find it again, or at least have someone remind me what its name was.

Was the Columbian-Peruvian Border War of 1922 the one where more than 90% of the male population of Peru was killed?

1939 March 23: Germany occupies Memelgebiet formerly held by Lithuania. Hitler himself together with Admiral Raeder made the journey on the Panzerschiff Deutschland from Swinemünde to Memel while von Ribbentrop at the same time pressed the Lithuanian envoy to sign a treaty in Berlin.
