Pic from Corbis.
Pic dated 1922, march on Rome. Who are the men with Mussolini?
Could one of them be Italo Balbo (extreme left)?

Hi Fangio,

Extreme left is indeed Italo Balbo. Between him and Mussolini is Emilio De Bono (later Marshal of Italy). The other two are, I believe, De Vecchi and Bianchi.

The men at the left of Mussolini are certainly Cesare Maria De Vecchi di Val Cismon and Michele Bianchi.
But the date is wrong: they are wearing the uniform of the MVSN, that was founded on 1 February 1923 (the March on Rome was made on 28 Oct. 1922). Thus probably that photo was shot in a commemoration of the March between 1923 and 1929 (Bianchi died on 3 February 1930).

Hi DrG!
Many thanks for the pic and the info.
Are there any other pics about the march on Rome?
Do you have good quality pics of De Vecchi and Bianchi?
Best regards.

You are welcome. I have to add some details to the photo that I have posted: the man with black beard between Mussolini and De Vecchi is Attilio Teruzzi, and the photo was shot on 31 Oct. 1931, when the fascists were allowed to enter Rome to make a pacific march to celebrate the appointment of Mussolini as prime minister (30 Oct.). The March on Rome, divided into 3 columns (led by: Perrone, Fara, Bottai) had started on 28 Oct. from some villages around Rome (Marinella, Monterotondo, Tivoli).
Are there any other pics about the march on Rome?
Yes, but not exceptional, more or less are all as the one that I've posted or they show blackshirts marching towards Rome or within the city.
This is a photo of the colmn Fara from Monterotondo, passing on the Salario bridge:

I've searched in my books, but I haven't good photos of those men.
I have found these ones in internet:
Bianchi:

De Vecchi:

Exactly what kind of uniform are the men wearing in the first photo? Is it another version of the traditional black PNF? I was thinking MVSN but I thought they switched over to a field gray in 1940. Could someone help me out here?

The "ratio" of the first picture is that De Bono, De Vecchi, Bianchi and Balbo were the "Quadrumviri" (from latin: "4 men") of Fascism (meant as Fascist National Party). Forming something like a small cabinet just below Mussolini. With him they had directed the March on Rome.
The picture is surely post-march, and surely post 1923. Their uniforms are of the early MVSN. I immagine the pic was taken between 1924 and 1928.
