The former "Barlow Palace" was bought by the NSDAP and it was the main Headquarters of the Nazi Party in Munich.

This house was bought with the colaboration of the all the members of the Party (2,50 Reichmarks) by person with a total of 250.000 members. And the contribution of friends of the Party.

That would be, without a doubt, Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), First German Chancellor.

No problem ;-) I found it on google using the picture search. You can find a bunch of others there too, especially some showing him in younger years.

Very interesting. I have visited Munich many times, but do not think I have seen all the Nazi sites that are still there. Can anyone help please?

I know of course about all the obvious ones, such as the Braune House, Hofbrauhous, Felldernhalle and Haus der Kunst, but what else should I go and see? Does anyone know if the east and west cemteries have maps indicating the graves of the famous?

I am there again in August.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I was in Munich last Summer. I believe Eva Brauns house is still there and owned and occupied by a family. Of course, not on your list but still worth seeing is Dachau. It helps to keep the other places in perspective.

It also a good place to buy militaria. I got my EK1 and party pin there.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I have been to Dachau of course, very moving as you say.
Do you know where exactly Eva Braun's house is?

You can find the Eva Braun information and my pictures on Geoff Walden's site:
http://www.thirdreichruins.com/ but unfortunately, you'll have to wait untill the first of next month. Too much traffic...

Yep, I cut it too close again this month, and the site didn't quite make it to the end of the month. It should be back up by 3 July.

The house that Eva and Gretl Braun lived in is at Delpstrasse 12 (that's the current street name). There is a period photo and a modern photo by AvD on my site, http://www.thirdreichruins.com/munich.htm . Here is another period photo, from Life magazine in May 1945.
