Within the regimental history of the 50th Royal Tank Regiment by SD Hamilton, in makes mention of a document that the Greek government revealed to the United Nations in 1947. The text makes mention of an agreement between the 11th Luftwaffe Division and the ELAS (Communist) Partisans, in which the Germans on told that they would not be hindered in the retreat on the condition that they give a certain quantity of heavy weapons and other military equipment to ELAS. These weapons were to be used against the Greek government and 50th RTR.

Has anyone seen this document or know what weapons were handed over?

Hi Andy H.

I first came across this paper in an article from a 70`s military magazine, later confirmed by a visit to the PRO. It would be impossible to say what weapons were handed over, it would be all small arms I would think, as I never came across any mention of the ELAS having artillery, mortars yes, but no big guns.
