Georg Diers & Karl-Heinz Turk Tiger 2´s

Post by Mr_Kugelblitz » 24 Sep 2004, 00:15

Do anyone know what turret numbers Georg Diers & Karl-Heinz Turk had on their Tiger 2´s in Berlin??
Have seen one picture of Turks tiger but it´s very hard to see the turret number as there is a big bit of fabric (maybe a flag) hanging on the side of the turret.
Also...is there any photographs of Georg Diers & Karl-Heinz Turk?

Georg Diers Tiger II in Berlin was number 314. I don't know what number the other Tiger was. Attached is photo of Georg Diers.

Thank you WARRIORANT...for the info and the photo!!!! Did G Diers survive the war?

Have got a photo maile to me were the Tiger in the pict is supposed to be the Karl-Heinz Turk Tiger. When you look carefully on the turret you can see a little bit of the first turret number. Seems to be number 1. And the number seems to be black thin outline numbers.

Did the 503 SS tank battalion have black outline numbers on their Tiger 2´s in Berlin? Did the Tigers have the late ambush cammo to?

S o wonder now if Georg Diers also had black thin outlines on his tiger. As Diers and Turk was both attached to the 503 SS tank battalion.P

Will Fey - Armor Battles of the Waffen-SS 1943-1945 (in german: Panzerkampf im Bild"). Another book that has lots of info on s.SS-Pz.Abt 503 is Wolfgang Venghaus "Berlin 1945 - 24 april bis 2 mai".

You can source the book through various internet sites like Amazon etc. just do a Google search and a list will appear of where to buy. It is a facinating read. The last chapter is all about the battle for Berlin and the attempted breakout. Below is another interesting link which mentions Diers Tiger 314.

Hello,

I just checked Will Fey's book(2nd edition,Fedorowicz).Unfortunately,Turk doesn't mention about his tank callsign number in his personal account.By the way,a long time ago I was searching for more information about Karl-Heinz Turk at several forums.Husband of his daughter sent me an e-mail and described himself and his wife.I don't know why but we lost our communication. If he reads this post, please get contact me again.

Best Regards
Tolga

I found a thread on http://www.missing-lynx.com the following Tiger II which supposedly represents Turk's TigerII in Berlin. The number has been confirmed as 100 in Black outline only. The camo scheme is fictious as all 503's TigerII's had 3 tone factory camo scheme. Shame as this scheme is quite interesting. Excellent model!!!

I don't see accurate reference to claim it was Turk's tank.On the other hand, model picture cannot be source for historical information. In fact,it was said commander is SS-Ostuf.Lippert on first image(KingTiger drawing).

I`m interested in the action in 19.4.45 I have a lot of questions but i`ll keep em for the future. I want to ask only 2 things
- what`s the full name of one of the king tigers commanders - meyer who was killed during the second battle - his tank was destroyed by the russian artilllery in a grove. If you have more info bout him it will be great
- more information concerning georg diers?

i want to rebuild the action in 19.4.45. the data i`ve from the forum is like a puzzle. A lot of missing parts and names and that makes the task quite difficult.Of course the most famous names are Karl Brommann and karl Koerner but there are at least 7-8 KT whick took part in the battle overall.
