Hi

Armenians like SS formation were formed in the end of 1944. Germans were joined some reg.s from 812, 814 and I/73 and formed an SS regiment or more like a Waffengruppe. It was a part of Caucasian Cavallery Unit SS.
Waffengruppe "Armenien". But without of this, more than 1000 Armenians was already been a part of SS, So for example in Dirlewanger or in 30th SS division (rus).

This is very interesting but tell me do you have in Armenia any books about this? Did any veterans publish their memoirs after the war?

I have also checked your site. Too bad the WW2 section isn't in the English language section yet. There is however another topic I would like to draw your attention to, namely Armenians in the French Foreign Legion in the Great War 1914-1918. In 1914, hundreds of Armenians in France volunteered to serve in the French army and they suffered quite heavy casualties already in the first two years of the war. Ther is somewhere out ther on the net a very good article about them, in French of course.
It wouldn't be bad if you remember them as well. Just curious. I reckon you don't have any memoires of Armenian legionnaires published, eh? :D

Hi Eduard!

It is certainly great to hear such great news. We all look forward reading your book.

I'll contact you later in the evening. I'll first try to find that article of mine about Armenians in the French Foreign Legion 1914-1918. It was very good so I think you ought to see it.

lp,

Klemen

Hello Eduard -

I too am very interested in the Armenian Legion and all of the Eastern volunteer formations formed by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS. To date, the best works I have seen on these topics are those of the German historian Joachim Hoffmann.

Can you please post a listing of all of your works that have been published in English or German? If you are currently researching the Eastern volunteers, let me know if you need any material from U.S. archives as I travel there 4-5 times each year.

Best regards and good luck with your research,

George Lepre

Hi Eduard,

Is your "Relations of Caucasian Collaborations with Germany" book also contain story of other Caucasians (Chechen, Bashkir, Georgia, Azeris, etc.) or only Armenians?
