RAD Knight's Cross Holders

#1

Post by Daniel L » 08 Nov 2004, 00:45

Can anyone tell me the names of the Knight's cross holders who recieved the decoration while serving in RAD-units. I'm also looking for names of Knight's cross holders who served with RAD-units after they received the Knight's cross.

Best regards/ Daniel

Thanks. I didn't know that Riess held a position in the RAD. Perhaps I should mention Gerhard Konopka and Rudolf Kreitmair, both these men held positions in the RAD. If I understand it correctly Konopka ended the war with commanding a RAD unit.

Best regards/ Daniel

Additional Tanks Destroyed.

Gentlemen,

I wonder if Gerhard Konopka destroyed additional enemy tanks singlehandedly while commanding a RAD unit? I know that he destroyed four Soviet tanks earlier while in the Heer and won four silver tank destruction badges.

Hello

Heinz Korn was the only member of the RAD to be awarded the RK as a member of a RAD unit per se (even if he is officially listed and included in the Luftwaffe RKT list since his recommandation was approved by Luftwaffe authorities).
All other soldiers whose names are mentioned above were awarded the RK while being attached to the Wehrmacht.
Another 2 fallen in this category : Heinz Pfitzner and Rudolf Kreitmair.

Denis

Found these on E-bay. Even though it said they were the same RKT, I seem to recognize four persons! Does anyone know who they were?

Cheers
Freiherr
