7.Flieger Division in Crete - Please I need your help!!!

#1

Post by FANGIO » 02 Dec 2004, 20:41

This is the Order of Battle of the 7.Flieger Division in Crete (source: http://www.eagle19.freeserve.co.uk)
I’ve been searching in google, in werhmacht-awards.com and in this forum but I couldn’t find any detailed order of battle of each Battalion of FJR1, FJR2 & FJR3. All I have is what the site named above gives, the name of the commanders of each Bn. I even have the book “The Battle of Crete” from Antony Beevor (spanish version) but it doesn’t give a detailed order of battle either.
I would really appreciate if somebody could give me the order of battle of the three Battalions of each Regiment (please with ranks and complete names of their members if possible).
I would also need to complete the “?????” spaces.
Hope any member of this forum will be able to help me

Fangio, these are the names I´ve been able to find out:

Anti-Tank Battalion (Fallsch. Pz. Jäger-Abt. 7): Hptmn. Schmitz
Mg Battalion (Fallsch. MG-Btl. 7): Major Schulz
1./Fallsch. San. Abtl.: Stabsarzt Dr. Robert Mallison
2./Fallsch. San. Abtl.: Stabsarzt Dr. Karl LangemEyer

As for the Artillery Battalion, you source points out that it was commanded by Major Schram, But Jean-Yves Nasse´s "Fallschirmjäger in Crete" states that the commander was Major Bode. Schram was the chef of the 1. Batterie.

Hope this helps. Regards.

PhilNix,
Fangio.

I think that your "Walter Burckhardt" (with DKG) is actually a different Luftwaffe officer. Moreover I think that the "Eduard Üxküll" you mentioned is a different Luftwaffe officer. I think the Ia officer of the 7. Fliegerdivision was actually Conrad-Bernhard Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenband. He served as Ia officer until 18.08.1942. I think I have found his entry at the Volksbund site:
Nachname: Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenband
Vorname: Konrad
Dienstgrad: Oberstleutnant
Geburtsdatum: 12.09.1905
Geburtsort: Hannover
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 18.08.1942
Todesort: Mont-Cevisi
Regards!
