I picked this up at a local junk/antique store during my lunch hour today. Can anyone tell me what it is and maybe what it's worth? I gave $5 for it. Thanks for all of your help.

Thanks for your polite response, now I remember why I have just about quit coming to this forum. I could understand a response like this if I was trying to sell it, I was just trying to learn something.

No offense, I didn't want to be rude, if so sorry for that.
It's just poison to my eyes to see such fakes...

Yeah Yeah, I apologize for my unfriendly response, interesting how fast it results in a revolt... Seems that some folks have nothing better to do... Sorry again.

BTW I'm not taking it too serious, but I have a deep depise for folks in other Forums talking bad about someone who is not in their forum to defend himself.

Forget about it.

Check DarExc's link. I don't think I'd argue with collectors of the calibre of some of those.

There was previously a photo posted there of a gold version of the pin in wear, and more information on the pin's history:

Neat find, rrobertscv!

By the way, the common variety of this Luftwaffe pin appears to have an equivalent in the Wehrmachtgefolge one, worn by non-uniformed (civilian) male and female Heer auxiliaries.
