Can anyone possibly explain what is those holders in the uniform for? By the way, i don't see the shoulder clasps similar to any wehrmacht insignia? Any infos?hec801 wrote:Thanks

I don't think that he's Renteln.It looks like he has 1939 bar on most left ribbon on his ribbon line.That would make him WW1 veteran but Renteln served in Czarist army.
It looks like he is Major or Oberstleutnant and pic is taken after 29.5.43.On that day OKH directive ordered these kind of shoulder patches to Cossack units.
