SS-Standartenführer Michel Lippert SS-Nr.2968

Hi,

Just read in the Verordnungsblatt der Waffen-SS Nr. 2b (20.4.43) that this individual was promoted to Standartenführer.
What strikes me is the low SS-Nr. he has, compared with a fellow active duty Waffen-SS officer who was promoted to Standartenführer, Heinz Harmel (SS-Nr. 278 276).
What did he do with the 10. SS-Division "Frundsberg"?

Had his, or any, low SS-Nr. anything to do with him becoming Standartenführer?

I know very little on individuals, and it's usually not my area of interest, but this one looks kind of special

TIA,

Piet

His low number indictates that he was an early member of the SS, the lower the number the earlier he joined I.E. tow Untersturmführer from 1938 DAL both commissioned Usf 20.4.38 Richard Liebscher Nr 209215 Roman Greylinger Nr 3718
Greylinger joined early thirties or late twenties Liebscher joined 1937/1938

Most sources indicate that Lippert was the Frundsberg divisional supply officer during its formation in 1943. Lippert's pre-war career was virtually a history of the SS-Totenkopfverbände; he held nearly every senior position one could hold in the camp system -- guard battalion commander, camp adjutant, kommandant, and KL Inspectorate staff. Lippert was one of Eicke's inner circle in the SS-TV from the early years at Dachau. His war time resume was equally varied, serving in the Totenkopfdivision briefly, the 1st SS Infanterie Brigade (mot) and several SS foreign legions.

And let's not forget he was Ernst Röhm's executioner along with Theodor Eicke on 2 July 1934.

Whow!
So, this "oldtimer" had enough blood on his hands!

In the april 1943 promotion list he is listed as with the 10. SS. This division was still forming back then.

Thanks for your responses,

Piet
