Brave soldier - Fritz Klingenberg

#1

Post by Ivan Ž. » 09 May 2005, 23:29

Mopish Jason's (locked at this very moment) thread "Who was the greatest Waffen-SS soldier ever for his bravery" reminded me of one of the bravest Waffen-SS soldiers who, unofficialy, started the legend of Waffen-SS bravery...
He practically single-handed captured the capital of my country.
As a Serb, this should be my shame too, but a man should give his respect to a realy brave soldier...

I'll post some fine photos of Fritz Klingenberg.

These days, there's a new-to-English source on Klingenberg available in the form of Helmut Günther's book Hot Motors, Cold Feet, which relates Günther's experiences in Kradschützen Bataillon Reich from late 1940 to late 1941. The German edition has been available for 40 years, but the English one only a year or so.

Yeah and that story about how he took the capital city was pretty amusing .. And the most important of all, he took it without killing anyone.

Did you now.. then your eyes must be very, very good because this picture is too blurry to reckognise anybody, plus the person in question can only be seen from the side...
