Commander Italian XXI Corps, El Alamein

Hello! At the start of the Battle of El Alamein, Generale di Divisione Alessandro Gloria was substituting for Generale di Corpo d’Armata Enea Navarrini as commander of the Italian XXI Corps. Does anyone know where Navarrini was at (leave, sick, etc.)? When did Navarrini resume command of the corps? Thanks for any assistance!

Best regards,
Shawn

After a bit of digging I found my answer. From Volume 7 of the Illustrated World War II Encyclopedia:
At the time the battle started the commanders of the Italian XXI and X Corps (Generals Navarrini and Nebbia respectively) were on leave in Italy and only got back to their H.Q.s at the same time as Rommel.
Best regards,
Shawn
