but I think all members of our forum would like to see the result of your demand, not only you exclusively alone.
Nevertheless I think you will get a lot of information

Hello Odell!
Since nobody seems to write the award dates and of what units your man served with, here it goes for Dr. Klaus Hilgemann...
Knight's Cross: 8.10.42 as an Oberleutnant while commanding 13. (I.G.)/Gren.Rgt. 422
Oakleaves (nr. 641) to the Knight's Cross: 29.10.44 as an Major while commanding II./Gren.Rgt. 426
German Cross in Gold: 28.4.44 as a Hauptmann while commanding II./Gren.Rgt 426
You can check with http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de for regimental and divisional details.
Regards,
Krollspell

Thank You both for infomation and photos. Do either one of you have acess to any more photos? Also would it be possible to get dates on other combate awards he earned?
I've checked on units you have listed ,but there seems to be little information on them. Perhaps I am not in the right place.
Anyway thanks again to you both .

Hello again Odell!
Since both of Hilgemann's regiments belonged to the 126. Infanterie-Division, he fought on the Northern part of the Eastern front under Heeresgruppe Nord. When he won the Knight's Cross he had (probably) just fought on the Wolchow front and were fighting in Demjansk. You could check this battles/fronts in books and on the Net for info and references on the 126. ID.
In 1944 the 126 ID fought in Lettland and then, from the autumn in the Kurland (Courland) pocket, the time for his Oakleaves. Again check in books or on the Net for the fighting in these areas and references to the 126. ID. You'll find several references to the hard battles in the Kurland pocket. Maybe your man recieved the Ärmelband "Kurland "?
Divisional books:
Geschichte der 126. rheinisch-westfälischen Infanterie-Division - Gerhard Lohse, Podzun, Bad Nauheim 1957
Bildchronik der rheinisch-westfälischen 126. Infanterie-Division 1940 - 1945 - Günther Braake, Podzun-Pallas-Verlag, Friedberg 1985
Good luck with you research,
Krollspell

Again Thank You for the information. I'm not to good with finding things on the computer yet. Could you tell me what sites to look for reference material you listed.
Also found a site that listed his last command as
Grenadier-Regiment 868 (355. Inf.Div.): Could you please tell me what this means, and where this unit was located if possible.
Regards
Odell

Odell!
The Grenadier-Regiment 868 and the 355. Infanterie-Division were short-lived units that existed in 1943. The 355. ID was on the Eastern Front, first belonging to Heeresgruppe A in the spring and summer of 1943 and later that year to Heeresgruppe Süd. The Division was apparently disbanded in late 1943.
As far as I know (I'm not a RAD expert), these units had no connection to the Reich Labour Service, the RAD. Instead, the 355. ID seem to have been a short-lived, but ordinary Heer unit. Besided, your man Hilgemann won the KC in '42 as a company commander in the 126. ID, and then won the German Cross in gold and the Oakleaves in '44 as a battalion commander in the same 126. ID. That he should have had a tour as a regimental commander in a completly different unit in 1943, especially with the low rank of Oberleutnant or Hauptmann, and then return to his old Division with a lower command (battalion), that I find quite unlikely.
If you want to read about the RAD and the combat history late in the war see this link:

P.S. On what site did you find this information on Hilgemann) D.S.

I found that info on a search I was doing using his name and rank. This is what it had, RAD KC-Winner Gren.Rgt. 868 (355. Inf.Div.)
Hilgemann Klaus Archivelin php/t-18874. Wehrmacht Awards Forum.
I've tried to get this out of archives, but no luck yet. I'm in agreement with you on him changing units. He was with the other two through most of his military time. I would think you would want to stay with people you have been with ,especialy towards end of war.
Thanks for all the help.
