Hi Bob,

I checked several books and I found a picture of a single Sherman captured by 14. Fsch. Rgt. of the 5. Fsch. Div. and left at a corner by the Hotel des Ardennes ESCH-SUR-SURE. The Sherman was captured from US 707 Tank Battalion. I can find no reference to 6 Shermans in their possession however the 707 had 6 Shermans with the 105mm gun and 3 with the 75mm gun in the area. I will keep checking and probably include the 6 Shermans in my next update.

Thank you for the information,

Best regards,

Ron Klages

I know this is an old post but I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions:

1. There were 131 7.5cm auf Lorriane in France in 1944

2. There were 141 4.7cm auf Renualt in France in 1944

Where were they allocated?

Interesting numbers EugE. Could you tell us where these numbers come from? I'm quite curious about some of the formations.

Thanks. Does it give its source for those numbers?
If not I hope someone knows more.

The author refers to the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defence of Russia, but doesn't specify what specifically files.
Look for it and you will find it...

Thanks for the answer. Good to know the information probably came from documents in a Russian archive. Explains why it hasn't turned up before.
Also seems quite possible the same documents also hold details on other vehicles than just Panzerjäger. Could be very useful in understanding the development of the training battalion in the last months before D-Day. I also wonder if these numbers could explain the presence of various stripped down 4,7cm (t) auf Renault 35 behind Utah Beach.
Finding these documents might be difficult though...

To finish, I understand there are three volumes to the Panzerjäger book series, which one has this information?

about 7.5cm auf Lorriane in France you can find in release 17 (part 3), and 4.7cm auf Renualt is in release 16 (part 1).
Look for it and you will find it...
