Hello everyone!

I would like to know if anyone of you has informations about the San Giorgio group during the battle for the closing of the Iyzum Poket ( Jan-Feb 1942).

In that battle they where supposed to be a foot group ( Ie without tanks), but i would like to have some accurate informations, if you can give me some quotes from books i would appreciate it very much!!!

Thank you for the help!

Ciao Francy :D ,

i know that site, i also checked an article made by General Francesco Apicella, but a friend of mine is SURE that the san Giorgio actually had his veichles, only because a book of his mention the group as an operating foot grop from february 1942, he seems to ignore that the group before that date wasn't used!

thank you anyway!

Ciao!

the San Giorgio fought as a foot group (dismounted) having lost all its tanks in precedent months...After the end of Iyzum fightings it was taken back in Italy (march 1942)

source: Italian Army Official History (confirmed by all sources of my knowledge)

Hello Italians... quick question on a cavalry unit name:

Gruppi Squadroni "Penne di Falco"... Falcon pens? Or is "penne" also the name of "talons" like... "Claws of the Falcons"?

(note it's not told why San Giorgio had lost its tanks...)

AFAIK it was due to mechanical breakdowns after the extreme conditions that the veichles suffered in the russian winter.
