Kapitän zur See Siewert - Deutsche Legion

#1

Post by USAF1986 » 01 Jul 2005, 17:43

Hello! Can anyone confirm if Kapitän zur See z.D. Paul Siewert was commander of the Deutsche Legion? Many sources simply mention Kapitän zur See Siewert without giving his first name. Siewert was killed in action (date?) and succeeded to command by his chief of staff, Hauptmann Otto Wagener (future Generalmajor z.V. and SA-Gruppenführer Dr. phil. h.c.). Thanks for any assistance!

Best regards,
Shawn

Hi Shawn!

The only info I can find on Kapitän zur See Siewert was that his first name initial was "K", so it looks as if Paul is not the right person.

Best regards,

VJK

Sorry, no first name from me, but a date of death.

On Nov. 16. Siewert was visiting Brigade Krause at Bausk, on the way back he was shoot by a latvian civilian near Zoden.

Hallo to all,

Unfortunately, I am unable to add further to the question of Paul Siewert. However, with regard to K. Siewert there may be some connection to (or confusion with) Oberleutnant Kurt Siewert who took command of die Batterie Siewert in January 1919 at Riga.

Best Regards,

Durand

Hi Shawn,

you are correct on both counts. Char. Kapitän zur See z.D. Paul Siewert was killed as the leader of the Deutsche Legion in Courland on the 16th of November 1919.
