German navigation station in Saint Martin aux Buneaux,France

Dear members,

This is some pictures taken last week end in Saint-Martin-aux-Buneaux, Normandie (East of Fecamp). Here was located a German navigation station (Y gerat I think) during the war. Some bunker are now covered with earth, but most of them are very interesting. Especially the flak bunker with concrete doors ! :-) The design is anyway strange in my opinion : it look like Kriegsmarine design.

Best regards,

Sébastien HAULE

Hello Sébastien.

Very interesting site !! Do you know more about it ??

What was it designated for, because Y - Gerät and Kriegsmarine - does that not sound strange ??

Could it be a Luftwaffe position - do you have any other pictures of the other bunkers ??

Would very much like to know more about this site, because the area are most interesting to me.

Regards
Kurt

It was a Luftwaffe position, I will look in my documentation because I know an article published about it few years ago. My question about "design" was about the flak betung, wich are not usual for Luftwaffe position, I mean the shape of the betung itself.

Hi All

I have seen the bettung before it was along
time ago and I don't were the foto has been taken
but I know there were 4 of these bettungen with
concrete doors. ( Dieppe area )
They were made of brick and concrete.
For the Y-Fu. Nav.Anlage at St Valery en Caux was
called Cicero Y 3 .

Hi,
I see many similarities to the bunkers on the picture attached. Clipping from French magazine, unfortunately I cannot recall neiter name nor year. It's a site for Y-Verfahren (Kampf) a nav-aid intended to guide bomber formations.

Hello all

A "quick" question.... what were the difference / similarities of theese positions ( X and Y ) ??

The function, equipment and positions, and how did they work together ??

Maybe not a simple question afterall !!!!!

X2 "Rhein"
X3 "Oder"
X4 "Elbe"
X5 "Weser"
X6 "Spree"
X7 "Isar"

Y1 "Berta" - Cassel (Pas-de-Calais)
Y2 "Gustav" - Boursin (Pas-de-Calais)
Y3 "Cicero" - Conterville (....?)
Y4 "Dora" - St-Martin-aux-Buneaux (Haute-Normandie)
Y5 "Anton" - Jobourg (Normandie)
Y6 "Emil" - Morlaix (Bretagne)
Y9 - Aumale (Normandie)

We do have atleast some informations on the Y - Stellungen, but what about the X - Stellungen, dont seen to recall anything about these ??

Hi Jos,
Do you know exactly where Cicero is located??
We are going there with Christmas to look for bunkers.
You say St. Valery en Caux but where precise?
Greetings Jack.
