Re: The official AHF Fortifications & Artillery quiz thread
Ok next question here:
There's one remaining complete German armoured turret on Russian territory.
What function/type is it, where can we find it and what type of bunker?

I tried looking for "Schirwindt, Ostpreussen" on Google maps and Google Earth and came up with Kalininigrad; is that right??
And there's only the one turret left in all of Russia?!

Hi Arthur
Touchdown! I have been searching for the specific location my self for quite some time now, without any luck. Found info on several foreign forums, but my Polish and Russian are very rusty Maybe you can help with a specific location?
Schirwindt is located 1500m NW of the Lithuanian town Kudirkos Naumiestis
I will post another quiz tomorrow

It's here:

I was so close in 2009! But the bridge some 2km away had collapsed so we couldn't get further..

Kaliningrad is right, it was a part of Ostpreussen until 1945. Most of the German bunkers along the border were built here in 1939 and 1940. Most of them were blown up by the Russians but this 112b survives. South of the Russian border in Poland you can find the rest of this Grenzstellung, which is still intact. See www.bunkersite.com -> Other locations -> Poland.I tried looking for "Schirwindt, Ostpreussen" on Google maps and Google Earth and came up with Kalininigrad; is that right??

Re: The official AHF Fortifications & Artillery quiz thread
Thanks a million for the location. That has been put on the to-do-list for the Grenzstellung!
Okay. Next question!
I know it’s a bit blurry, and an old paper shot, but I think it captures the essence of fortification exploration.
An overall location should be sufficient, but feel free to pinpoint it!

At AvB's request, I removed several posts and used them to start a new thread -- "Grenzstellung, Ostpreussen" at http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=182483

Yep. You are right
It's under the Panzerbatterie 5 in the south part of the Hohlgangsystem.
Over to you!
