Hello guys,

was wondering if anyone knows for whom this type of fez was produced. Blackshirts? Albanian volunteers? It has a FERT symbol attached to it. Any help is appreciated and thanks beforehand :)

it seems a usual soft black fez for italian blackshirts. FERT is a dynastic motto of Savoy Dynasty. What is its story?

Salve Lupo Solitario,

The fez was put for sale a few months ago, by being advertised as an Albanian fez for Italian troops which I highly doubted. Thanks for your confirmation

Fez for blackshirts, militia (milite) and bersaglieri units.
some of the bersaglieri units wore red fez.
albanian blackshirt legion had a white fez as a distinctive headgear.

AFAIK all Bersaglieri units wore a red (cremisi to be precise) fez. Black colour was "reserved" for fascist units, such as black shirts and the Giovani Fascisti regiment (these last part of Regio Esercito and not a fascits party organization).

Best regards

subscribe: red soft fez for bersaglieri, black soft fez for fascist units.
I add that the soft fez was typical for italian troops, colonial beared other kinds of headgear

Apparently the Red Fez was presented to the Sardinian/Piedmontese Bersaglieri by the French Zouaves during the Crimean war (1854-56) after fighting alongside each other.

Wayne, I think so: before that they wore a red (if I'm not mistaken) fatigue "cap" with a vague resemblance to a Santa Claus cap or night cap...
