Collar Patches

Post by Glenn2438 » 06 Oct 2002, 18:48

Requin,

that's an interesting photograph. I don't recall ever seeing the 1942 pattern SS generals' collar patches on a black service uniform.

Thank you requin,

I believed that the 1942 pattern, did not exist on the ss black uniform.

The black uniform was worn wartime, in some cases the rank system was updated on uniforms....

Wow. The older photo of Graf is fascinating. I have not seen this one. Thankyou for posting it. This looks about the time he stood near to Hitler in 1922-1923. Notice the "Kaiserbart" mustache that many of them wore during that early time period (Christian Weber wore one, and so did Hitler during WWI). Strange that Hitler dropped him after the Putsch, as Graf took quite a few bullets for his Fuhrer on Nov. 9. Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengl reports in his "Unheard Witness" that he could never figure out why Hitler was so unfair to him afterwards. There are some other murky photos from the 1922-1923 period in which Graf stands right behind Hitler while giving speches, his closest personal bodyguard. I've read in books that graf was a butcher (meat cutter) in civilian life.

Does anyone have any information on his family, particularly descendants or nephews or cousins? Did he have any family that was ethnic German that lived in Romania prior to World War 2? Thanks.

I just saw this on BUndesarchiv/Wikipedia
Titel: Ulrich Graf

The above photo is a great picture....I can't believe how very old he looks in the uppermost photo. He looks like he's in his 80's....he wasn't that much older than Hitler. i'm thining he must either have been ill or he lived a hard life of drinking and smoking.

Ulrich Graf's Blood Order medal is being auctioned off, after having been in a UK collection for over 40 years:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -life.html

I am certain that the medal will bring more than the expected £4,000 auction price, considering the history involved.

It's already up to £11,600.
