Russian farbs

Im not into re-enactment, but I found these pictures and guess you might enjoy them. Please take notes on their correct uniforms so that you can upgrade yours ;)

Image

Note correct pattern "duc-tape with pencil done Swastika" type Belt buckle.

Image

Please note the original golden cap badge and the "pencil done SS triangulear something" collartab.

Image

And the most important part of any SS mans tunic The gigantic seagul. (Cant you just feel how evil this SS soldier is?)

Image

And dont forgett the Sieg Heil, very important as all the german soldiers where evil Sieg Heilers with black uniforms (Once again: Feel how evil these guys are!). Also dont forgett the camoflage or helmets!

Image

I always thought it was the T-34 that helped the russians win the war, not the T-80. :o

So guys, I really hope you look into this a bit and take some notes, so that you can update your gear and be a bit more authentic at your next re-enactment, just like these guys

Are these actually "reenactors" or kids making a home movie or something?

They all look quite (realistically?) young, something many 'proper' reenactors are not!

I have to think something else is going on here rather than reenactment...perhaps they are armed forces training OPFOR? (Note the camo pants and in teh backround). Who knows.
I like the overcoat in the first picture...but the rest of them are not even in German stuff at all--yet uniform for the most part...and the tank. I think they are military trainers screwing around with Germanic symbolism or something else completely different from reenactment.

.....at least I HOPE that is the case.

I believe this was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the victory by the Red Army over the Wehrmacht in 1995 (date?) It was done in Russia and the supporting documentation spoke about millions of dollars going to present an awesome reenactment display. One suspects that Russia must have a large collection of Wehrmacht and SS uniforms, stahlhelms, equipments etc, but then again judging from the Komsomolets cadets portraying "evil SS" this may no tbe the case.

They look like modern Russian soldiers(Flora camo underneath), dressed up in cheap uniforms.

I followed the link posted by PzGr Conrad... it said something about tiger tanks participating in the battle for Moscow 1941-42! It seems to me that the russian army or who ever staged this event decided to just go for the obvious icon of the third Reich... the tiger... although it didn't participate in the battle for Moscow or am i misisng something?

Considering how little resources are available for reenactment events in the East, its is always interesting to see these kinds of photos no matter how farby. I have never seen this "Tiger/Panzer IV" T-34.

Thanks PzGr Conrad

The SS wore fur ushanka caps?!

And what's with the M1918 stahlhelms and "captured" Soviet helmets?!

Also note highly accurate AK-47 issued by the Red Army in WWII!

Russian Farbs

Postby benjamen13 on 13 Mar 2006 13:46

My primary impression is USSR. From what I have seen on reenactments in the motherland is that the Russian impressions are done very well but the German impressions suck. Maybe they just don't know or don't care.
