ok, just to get the ball rolling i'll start with information I believe to be correct...

SS Sturmbannführer Dr Eduard Wirths was the second Chief Camp Doctor of Auschwitz I from 6th September 1942 to 17th January 1945, he then transferred to Dora Mittelbrau. I believe SS Sturmbannführer Dr Kurt Uhlenbrock was the first Chief Camp Doctor before him.

Waffen SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Josef Mengele was the Chief Camp Doctor of Auschwitz II Birkenau for May 1943 to 17th January 1945he then transferred to Gross Rosen. I'm not sure if anyone was 'CCD' before him.

At Buchenwald I think that SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Waldemar Hoven & Wehrmacht Generalleutnant Dr Siegfried Handlöser were the Chief Camp Doctors at some time. The Deputy Chief Camp Doctor was Waffen SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Erwin Ding - Schuler.

The Camp Dentist of Dachau at some point was SS Sturmbannführer Dr Paul Reutter.

SS Untersturmführer Dr Johannes Kremer was Chief Camp Doctor of Flossenburg from 17th Novermber 1942 to 20th Arpil 1945. SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Heinrich Schmitz was at this post before him.

At Gross Rosen, SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Friedrich - Karl Entress was Chief Camp Doctor from 3rd January 1941 to 10th December 1941. I believe then it was SS Obersturmführer Dr Horst Thilo. Waffen SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Josef Mengele was also Chief Camp Doctor from 17th January 1945 to 5th February 1945.

SS Obersturmführer Dr Eduard Krebsbach & SS Sturmbannführer Dr Aribert Heim were the Chief Camp Doctors of Mauthausen at some time during it's existence.
SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Wilhelm Henkel & SS Obersturmführer Dr Walter Höhler were the camp Dentists, either at the same time or one after the other?. SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Erich Wasicky was the Camp Pharmacist.

I believe SS Obersturmführer Dr Werner Rohde was the Chief Camp Doctor of Natzweiler.

At Ravensbrück, SS Gruppenführer Dr Karl Gebhardt was the Chief camp Doctor and Waffen SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Walter Sonntag & SS Obersturmführer Dr Martin Hellinger were the Camp Dentists.

At Sachsenhausen, SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Heinz Baumkotter was the Chief Camp Doctor and Waffen SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Walter Sonntag was the Camp Dentist.

SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Otto Heidl was the Chief Camp Doctor of Stutthof.

SS Untersturmführer Dr Karl Rindfleish was the Chief Camp Doctor of Majdanek.

SS Hauptsturmführer Dr Fritz Klein was the Chief Camp Doctor of Bergen-Belsen.

Hope some of you can help.

Heres the fate of one camp Dr not listed

Richard Trommer(19.4.1911- ?.5.1945)
A ss Hauptsturmfuhrer served as a camp Doctor in Neuengamme and Ravensbruck.Left Ravensbruck on 2nd May 1945 driving a truck with other members of the camp staff.Whilst driving he told some others that no way would he be taken prisoner. He then soon after took poison whilst driving the truck and swerved into a tree.Dr Winklemann who was present told the British authorities that he thinks that Dr Trommer swallowed veronal.

#14

Post by Researcher » 20 Oct 2002, 20:53

There seems to be very little known about Dr Konig the platform selector at Auschwitz. Can anyone help with some biog details.

His name is either Heinz-Wilhelm, Hans-Wilhelm or Edmund. and he was an SS Unterscharfuhrer.
No post-war info but he was still alive in 1988.

Thats all I've got

Researcher -- what I've got on this guy is in the posts above (I spelled his name "Koenig"). In addition to the info above, Koenig's bio in "The Camp Men" has him as born in Stuttgart; married and agnostic; National Archive (US) #A3343 SSO-192A. It's pretty much the same info Peter J. Hertel gave you earlier. Robert J. Lifton's "The Nazi Doctors" casts some light on his unusual personality, but doesn't say what happened to him.
