SS-Stubaf. d. Reserve Alfons Brendel

Looking for info on this officer.
All I know is that het was born 18-03-1912 and probably (not certain) in the 34.SS-Frw.Pz.Gren.Div. "Landstorm Nederland".

If anyone has more info than this on this man, it is most appreciated.

Sbf and Sbf der Waffen SS Reserve 9.11.43 His Waffen SSc Service was with SSHA to 1944 then he was Kdr Felderstabataillon Landstorm Nederland 1944Awarded the IR 2 and the War Service cross 1 and 2 with Swords

Hello Ben,

This is what I've.

Dr. Alfons Brendel: German teacher and pedagoog
Born on 18-3-1912 in München.
In his free time he studied history and philosophy.
At the end of 1938 he got his degree of Dr.
In March 1933 he became a member of the NSDAP(nr. ???).
He was reserve-officer with Waffen-SS and sportsinstructor with Allgemeine-SS.
SS-Obersturmführer.
Between Januari 1941 and April 1941 he was sportsadvisor from R. Jungclaus and when he was absent he
became his replacement.
After that he was commander from Stabskompanie der Waffen-SS beim HSSPF in Holland, this for a period of six months.
In Oktober 1941 he became head of the trainingschool fir the Dutch SS, called SS-Schule ‘Avegoor’, with HQ in Ellecom
(and later, somewhere around March 1943, it was known as SS-Ausbildungslager ‘Avegoor’).
From May till September 1942 he served within SS-Division(mot.) ‘Wiking’.
After that period he became head of ‘Avegoor’ again.
In 1944 he was promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer.
In November 1944 he moved his SS-Schule to the city of Hoogeveen and here it became an SS-Ersatz-Bataillon
from the SS-Freiwilligen Brigade 'Landstorm Nederland'.

Brendel also served in SS-Totenkopfstandarten Oberbayern in 1938 and SS-Totenkopfstandarten 4, later SS-Infanterie Regiment 4, 1939-41, prior to serving with "Wiking"..his personnel file also indicated, that while in Holland, Brendel served briefly as commander of the Amersfoort camp Guard Battalion.
