I Like It!!
Fine pictures Milan. The Zrinyi was low and fairly well-armored. All in all a decent vehicle. It would have been interesting if the Zrinyi were made in greater quantities like the German StuG. Best Regards, David

It was lower, than the StuG III. The Hungarian assault gunners liked this type and shot a lot of Soviet tanks and assault guns out with their Zrínyi's. It had two problems: the Zrínyi's had't welded armour and the gun's barrel was short (the muzzle velocity of the howitzer's shell wasn't enough for a firefight against Soviet heavy tanks over 1 km). BTW they had firefight with long distance very rarely, and the 105 mm AT shell's effect against Soviet tanks was very good. The Soviets had to sacrifice 3-4 armored vehicles for one Zrínyi.
It was an excellent vehicle for ambushes, and for escorting the attacker infantry.

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I do have a different set of figures for the range of armor: see
http://www.ordersofbattle.darkscape.net ... Specs.html
The info is a link off of an article by Jason Long, who has several articles about the Hungarians forces of WWII, appearing at several different sites. Anyway, the page/article the link is from is:

Do somebody know more about Zrinyi of I believe 1st battalion in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1945? Or Zrinyis in Slovakia in winter 1944/45?
I saw recently picture of destroyed Zrinyi and Turan on one of Bratislava streets. On picture was visible panorama of Male Karpaty mountains. Which unit could use this vehicles in Bratislava in April 1945?

To resurect a very old thread....
Anyone have a breakdown of the Zrinyi's armour beyond the 75mm to 13mm ?
Cheers
Bob
They come from an article by Adám Bíró in the Hungarian magazine Haditechnika (issue 1996/1) the drawings are dated 1995.
I have the original magazines if the images are not clear.
