Re: Croatian Anti-Aircraft Legion (Hrvatska PZ legija)

Also regarding that POW camp in Marseille, I found this few years ago, do you have any info about that? "I have been speaking with a person who was interned at Camp 404, near Marseilles during 1945. The Camp had a small American Admin section, however, the guards were Yugoslavian. My friend tells m...

Send me your e-mail address using the PM (Private Message) contact on this website. I have a 3-page manuscript on the Kroatischen Flak-Legion (Legija Hrvatska protuzrakoplovna) that includes a bibliography.

Re: Ju 88 forced landing to sea near Kotka 1942

Interesting, Andrus! An excellent example of the continuous command disagreements between OKH and Ob.d.L. Re Kotly: the only bomber unit there in August-September 1942 was II./KG 76. [Source: https://www.ww2.dk/Airfields%20-%20Russia%20and%20Ukraine.pdf] But, as you pointed out, it was an Abspringh...

Re: Ju 88 forced landing to sea near Kotka 1942

Lavansaari and Kotka in the Gulf of Finland and 7./KG 1 go together nicely prior to III./KG 1 moving to Bryansk on 9 August. It's possible the 21(22?) August incident was a 7. Staffel Ju 88 that was held back at Dno and did not go to Bryansk. It may have been in the workshops at Dno and not servicea...

Re: Ju 88 forced landing to sea near Kotka 1942

Hmmm.........Andrus. III./KG 1 (including 7.St.) was temporarily detached to the Central Sector and operating from Bryansk at this time: 9.8.42: aircraft and crews of III./KG 1 temporarily transferred to Bryansk to support Operation “Wirbelwind” - an offensive to recover ground east of Roslavl aroun...

Re: Ssytschkovo

Ssytschkowo is the German spelling of Sychkovo after transliteration in to English.

There is a Sychkovo 10 km. NW of Bobruisk in Belorussia (Belarus). There may be others. The locations of this name in Ukraine would be spelled differently in Ukrainian.

rgilkey: A week or so ago you posted either here or on http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/ a bunch of Luftwaffe acronyms and abbreviations that were in your g-g-father's papers and I gave you the translation into English for every one of them. Did you not see this? You should be able to tell what he did ...

Re: Flak-Lehr- und Versuchs-Abteilung 900 (o) -> "Föhn"

Guido J. - I have some information on this unit, but due to circumstances beyond my control, namely a house fire on 26 March 2023, my books, research notes, usw., were smoke-damaged and taken to a storage warehouse to be detoxified and cleaned. I do not have access to any of this now and won't until...

Re: Lufwaffee units in Balkans 1942-1943

@Carl, wwilson and J.Broshot, The daily or near-daily Ia/Genst.d.Lw. document series identified below is the principal one providing the information Carl seeks. Unfortunately, only a few of them survived the war and none of those are for 1943. I've been searching for these since the early 1980's in ...
