Re: Bulgarian Actions during the 5-6th Enemy Offensives

My research there covered the NDH (wartime Croatia) exclusively, so there may have been some anti-partisan operations...

Airfields: see www.ww2.dk > menu in left margin > "Luftwaffe Airfields 1935-1945".
Tagesmeldung d. Ob.d.L. on the BA-MA website - many of these survived for the 1940-41 period.

Re: Looking for information regarding grandfather service in Bau Bataillon

Maybe he was transferred to 3/XIII from Guernsey? That is entirely possible. Many Lw.-Bau units and personnel were transferred from France, Belgium and Holland to Russia in 1941 to support the advance into the USSR. Field airstrips had to be built behind the advancing ground forces as they pushed e...

A little bit more: Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 3/XIII 22 Jan 44: Btl. unloaded (from train) in Firenze (Florence). By 24 January, 4. Kp. had moved north to Bologna with Stab Lw.-Bau-Btl. 6/VII. Re: Luftflotte I : Combat Sorties 41-44

Reigo2, Spot on...........aside from rolls 60 and 61 in T-311, I've been through the others you listed, too, but forgot to include them. Also, the Ob.d.L. daily reports provide some detail for summer-fall 1941 and can be found in the German-Russian digitized document collection on the internet, IIRC...

Re: Luftflotte I : Combat Sorties 41-44

J.M. - If such detailed reports survived the war, you would have seen some reference to them in the Bergström books. I did a pretty thorough years-long sweep of Luftwaffe documents dealing with the Luftflotte 1 area and came up empty. All that remains, as far as I could determine, are very brief and...

Re: Wehrmacht "Tooth to Tail" Ratio?

It looks like NARA omitted the frame counter that appears at the very top of each frame when they converted the old microfilm to digital format. Accordingly, you will have to go through it page-by-page beginning with image page 32 or thereabouts. Look for tabulated compilations inside of a box with ...

Re: Wehrmacht "Tooth to Tail" Ratio?

Sorry 2KILFA! That was about 18 years ago. Although I still own that roll of microfilm, my house caught fire on 26 March 2023 and burned out. All of my reference material that survived is presently in a contractor's warehouse for preservation as "salvageable personal property" and I cannot get acces...
