Documented captured Maxim gun found in Alberta, Canada. One of the estimated 3000 or so guns sent to Canada after the war to be distributed to various municipalites. Captured by 8th Bn 9-8-18 (9 Aug 1918) HATCHET WOOD N (North of BEAUFORT) Gun sent to Kerrobert, Sask. The 8th Bn. won two Victoria Crosses in that battle that day. Both for capturing MG positions.
After I purchased the gun and found out it's history, I confirmed with the seller that his father was from Kerrobert, Saskatchewan so I'm fairly certain this is the gun documented in the archives.
Too bad that it is in relic condition, but the history makes it a neat piece.
Captured Maxim MG Nr.165

How on earth were you able to find that out? Im very impressed! What is that book? I wish I could find the history of some of our guns here in the US!
Re: Captured Maxim MG Nr.165
Have you noticed that remnants of the bipod are still fixed to the item? Are you going to rebuild?
