Yes it is a hard photograph to find - not sure why - it presents all of the esoteric nature of the NAZI party very well - Hitler was filmed being presented a Reich Sword in 1938, you can find it on the BritishPathe film footage of WWII website link below...

It opens with a Nazi officer who makes a speech on behalf of the people of Nuremburg. Amongst those in the audience alongside Adolf Hitler are Rudolf Hess, Dr Joseph Goebbels, Julius Streicher and possibly Joachim Von Ribbentrop with Martin Bormann. The Burgermeister master of ceremonies has two Army valet's pick up a decorated sword from a box - the Reich Sword of Nuremburg - and he presents it to the Fuhrer on behalf of Nuremberg.
Hitler goes to the podium and makes a speech thanking the Burgermeister and people of the town of Nuremburg.

I have a question and would appreciate any help. Back in 1944 when my father was just 10 years old, a very good friend of the family returned from the war and brought him a sword which his friend claimed he recovered in Hitlers bunker. The sword remains in our family until this day and I wanted to ask if there is any way to authenticate this sword. I appreciate any assistance as to learning the true history of ths sword. Thank you.

Almost NO GIs ever entered Hitler's Bunker, so probably just a war story. However, you'll have to post pictures before anyone can tell you anything....

Yes, an Italian Fascist presentation dagger was given to him by Mussolini.
Other Nazi leaders also received it on their visits to Italy.
