Hitler's sword=photographs?

Post by PF » 02 Mar 2007 16:36

Heard that after Hitler became Chancelleur/Führer 1 January 1933 that a German City presented him with a sword.
Is this true? Photograph of Hitler with sword?

I've recently seen a picture of Hitler with a dagger but not a sword. I think I saw it on the GDC forum? However, that's not to say that he didn't have one.

If my memory does not fail me the Italians gave Hitler a presentation dagger on his visit there and he can be seen wearing it in the Hoffman Photo Book "Hitler in Italy". That would certainly be a nice piece to have!!!

Hello.

I think I've once seen a picture of Hitler with a dagger or sword. Can't recal where or when.
I'll go trough my "Signals". If I find something, I'll let you know.

I also saw some pictures of Hitler holding a Luftwaffe Sword. Also, don't no when or where...

In the book Edged weapons of hitlers germany by Robin Lumsden on page 108 there is a picture of the top half of the sword. The book tells us that it was the manufacturers of SOLINGEN that made Adolf the honorary citizen of their town and that he recieved the sword from them, The sword was made by different factories working together. The sword is called: The Adolf Hitler Solingen Sword Of Honour. It was made in damascus steel and with the inscription "Me fecit Solingen" Witch means something like "Solingen made me".

1935 Hitler got another sword from the citizens of Nuremberg, that sword was called The Reich Sword....

Havnt found any pictures of it on the internet, and cant copy it from the book due to copyright laws :(

Hitler did indeed have a sword presented to him by the town of Solingen upon being elected Chancellor in April of 1933.
I have a full scale picture of the sword in a sealed frame. It is almost impossible to take a decent picture of it due to the glare. However, I have experimented and come up with a few that can be viewed. While I can read enough to tell that the sword was a commemoration of his becoming Chancellor; I would appreciate a full translation of the inscription.

you CAN copy any picture or art , legally -
you need to alter and change the image by at least 50% -
{i would go 60% just to be safe } ,.... enlarge it or shrink it,....or take several different views of the photo - the holder of the copywrite can not touch you--
so you don't have to worry ,...as long as the item is altered in a major way

Below is a picture I recently came across showing a Party Rally in 1935. Rudolf Hess is holding the sword in its scabbard. I have no knowledge of what became of the scabbard.

The sword in my post of 17 Oct 2010 was owned by a businessman in Dallas,Texas. His daughter who is a professional photographer, took the photograph that I posted and it is exactly to the scale of the actual sword. He sold it in the late 80's to a person in the UK, where it still resides as far as I know. I never was told the exact sales price, but I was told that it was in the hundreds of thousands. As far as the fake sword picture that's posted; I have no doubt that there were reproductions; However the sword I am fortunate to have a picture of, has been thoroughly vetted as the original.
