why the big shock?
the nazis copied many weapons , gear , symbols and designs .

the helmet was just derivative of WW1 coal scuttle , and that was a copy of a midlevel helmet style ,... SS & SA daggers are nearly identical to a 1000 year Nordic design . the swastika symbol was used world wide for thousands of years ,.. the ww2 German uniforms were copied from the Italians , who demonstrated a higher degree of fashion over fighting ,
the fact that the HAL motif was STOLEN and used by the SS is no surprise to me
