Dealers list

Post by Darcy » 17 Apr 2002 21:40

Marcus,

I hope this is the right place for this thread. What do you think of putting up a recommended dealers list here?Seems there are alot of "what do you think of this dealer" questions recently.

I for one think it is a geat idea. But who will be one the list? Will they be voted on ? Someone might like a dealer, and a nother guy might not.

Don,

I think that certain guidelines would have to be set.Integrity being the utmost imprortant, but also including guarantee. So basically no dealer who does not offer a inspection period and a lifetime guarantee can be on this list(my opinion).
I believe the list can fairly well make itself.....respected dealers are well known in the veteran collecting community.Dealers such as Detlev Neimann,Gailen David,Bill Shea,...to name a few.

I like the idea, but prehaps it would be best to start by simply listing the dealers and providing info on what kind of inspection period, guarantee etc as well as a brief description of what types of militaria they have for sale.

I think best that anyone show any piece they get around, even the better dealers make mistakes though the good ones hold up their warranty. No dealer can be an expert on all aspects (and they admit so). Any 1 area (uniforms, medals, blades, etc) is a study in itself.

Compiling a list of honest dealers is an excellent idea.

Darcy....Any more ideas on the list? It would be nice if we could get one set up. I see members ask about dealers all the time.

Darcy,

Feel free to begin working on the criteria for the list and I'd be happy to host it on my site.

dealer list

Post by anthony » 26 Apr 2002 13:50

Darcy
I run a UK militaria dealer directory. I have many third reich dealers listed but have no idea on there reputations. Maybe you would like to look and see if you are familiar with any of them and we can add them to your list. It would be helpful for me to know whos good and who isnt aswell.
