The exact purpose of this type podium flag is open for speculation... but the gold (yellow) trim can be assumed reserved for higher "ranked" speaker/headliners... Political bigwigs, Reichsleiters, Generals, etc. but no known regulations AFAIK. Was the swastika once black? I've seen a couple others like this one but don't remember an odd colored swastika....

Nice flag however.

The ODD colored swastika has me hesitant also. I have never seen one before, and just am not sure. The owner wants me to make an offer....any idea as to what would be a reasonable offer?
Thanks

I am sure wheatever offer you make to the owner, he will not accept.LIke most open ended transactions, he will want the moon, and think this flag is worth more than you can or will offer.IOW..you going to be wasting your time, bahahaha

No problem about originality, value is completely subjective.... if this walked into my flea market.... with no other stuff to influence the deal.... I'd offer $200./250.. and resell it for $400./500., and wouldn't loose any sleep about it if he turned me down.... I'm not a big flag collector and have seen several of these (again didn't remember the odd swastika) over the years... a couple (fairly recently) sold fairly priced IMO.

Is the seller a dealer or someone who just has it .... most dealer (and nearly all dealers are also collectors...) pay 50% of of a fair retail... if I were you, unless you REALLY want it, I'd offer $200./300., if he is a dealer.... it's up to him to set the price..... but I won't pay more than my "scale" , either way.

Good luck....

Hi,

First time on the forum so not sure if its the right way to contact yet!
Need a little help with a recent purchase,
5.jpg
A 1942 Reichskriegsflg, Kiel, 85 x 150 (2nd Pattern)

I have a few genuine flags but have attached images of this one and could do with some info.

The construction is cotton, not nylon, and its a lightweight weave with only 2 x basic rows of stitching, so if genuine could only have been a bunting of indoor flag.
I cant find any reference to this size although I know all sizes were made.
I'm happy with the print, I'm even fairly sure the material itself is of date....however, the Iron Cross has been stitched right at the top of the flag.
The distance from the centre disc would appear to be correct but I cant tell if A) it is simply, an in date second, or B) a Fake.
My usual hedging would be Fake but as its such a glaring mistake it would be less usual for a copy than a genuine second??

Any help/input would be much appreciated. KR Sean

Looks like a repro, not one of the Delta 1960's 70's ones but a new one coming out of East Europa.

This site can help you with the measures ; http://www.germaniainternational.com/cloth5.html

The R.Kreigsflagge posted by Flashf16 is not original... proportions are wrong as well as the bunting and rope... there are no known "indoor" versions. Sorry to have to share in the bad news, but IMHO a decent quality reproduction but fake all the same.

Germaniainternational is a poor site loaded with viruses from all reports... don't go there. Loaded with high end fakes, too!
