US patch ID wanted
US patch ID wanted
Does anyone know how old this patch is? Which rank? And was it worn by the navy, airforce or army, etc?
Re: US patch ID wanted
It is for a U.S. Army Master Sargent (E-8) it looks to be fairly old maybe the 50's ... the diamond in the center also makes this for a First Sargent.

Prior to 1942 a "Top" had only 2 rockers, the 3rd added by an order of Sept 1942 (Interestingly the Movie "From here to Eternity" shows 1SG Ward(Burt Lancaster) correctly wearing the pre war 2 rocker chevrons.
These would be worn by ALL US Army and US Army Air Forces "Topkicks" circa 1943-47. Your version looks like the wool back chevrons designed for Wool service uniforms and the "M1941" Field Jackets and the Mackinaws. An All Cotton version for HBT's existed as well
