German Heer dagger authentic?

#1

Post by Dieter J » 27 May 2018, 22:47

I got offered this Heer dagger from WKC Solingen.
I don't know for sure if it's a real or a fake one.
Below the photo's I have.
Thank you in advance for your help.

It's a good one, but crossguard and blade in shabby state.

Ok, thank you for your help. Do you think it would be a good deal to buy it for about 200 euros?
Best regards,
Dieter

200 euros isn't a bad price in my opinion.... IMO only the blade is really shabby, the guard isn't that bad and the blade might clean up.... even if not, for that price it's a good deal.

Thanks, do you have some tips of how I can clean it, without making it even worse? :)

looking at the blade, you'd probably need a professional who knew how to properly polish the blade.....probably not worth the effort. It's in it's original condition as is..... sometimes a little wd-40 will help. Still a good deal at that price.

Yes, I was thinking the same. I mostly use WD-40, it preserves but don't influence the original shape.
Consulting an expert would indeed be too expensive for what the dagger is worth.
Thanks and best regards,
Dieter
