Help authenticating SS dagger

Hi folks,

I'm wondering whether any of you might be able to help me verify a dagger I own. I believe it to be a genuine SS honour dagger. My grandfather fought for the British at Arnhem and brought a variety of things back from the war after being a PoW. I assume this is one of them although I have no proof and he could have bought it later.

The crossguard and pommel are in good condition and a slightly yellow metal colour which could be nickel or plate, as it comes up quite shiny when polished. It is marked with '1' which I believe denotes the Munich district. The blade is in decent condition with some small scratches and patina, especially towards the hilt. The inscription on the blade is uncoloured and there is a Heder makers mark. The handle feels like wood, is quite hard and well defined and only has a few small chips and dents. Both the eagle and roundel are well fit into the handle. Again, the scabbard could have either nickel or plate metal - I can't tell. It looks shiny like plate but it has been polished - I remember it being duller before this. The black part of the scabbard is quite heavily patinated. The fit to the dagger is OK.

Please see pics; any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like an original SS dagger to me, condition is actually pretty good. Nice one!
