Nazi Daggers

#1

Post by Zapfenstreich » 14 Mar 2002, 19:31

Among the things my father left me are three Nazi daggers. The first is an Army dagger with what looks to be a simulated ivory handle and a silver acorn and cord wrapped around it. The second is an SA dagger. The third looks like an SA dagger but it has a black sheath rather than a brown one. Is this intentional or just some kind of mix up?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Black sounds like SS....Is there an inscription on the blade?
I don`t think the ivory is simalated! At least it`s real enough on the naval daggers

Zapfenstreich,
if it is a dagger with brown wood grip, "SA" emblem in the handle and motto "Alles für Deutschland" , with a black scabbard, it is an NSKK dagger. At first (1933-34), the NSKK used the standard SA dagger w/ braown scabbard. After the Röhm purge when SS/NSKK became seperate of SA, the NSKK had their scabbard painted black to match their uniform and distinguish themselves. So there should be no probelm with your dagger at all.
Best regards,
JOHN HARMAN

Nazi Daggers

John

That's it exactly as you described. It is definitely an SA dagger complete with insignia on a brown wooden handle and "Alles Für Deutschland" on the blade. I thought Dad might have picked up an SA dagger without a scabbard and then, later on, found an SS scabbard and put the two together. From what you tell me, I've got the correct items.

Thanks

The dagger you got is NSKFK-dagger .National socialisticher kraftfahr korps. That means motordriven -units organisation. The daggers was often maded from SA-daggers wich was painted black on the brown scabbard. The are almost as common as SA-daggers only a little bit more exspensiv and dont have any connection with SS .

That pretty much reenforces John's statement. You both must have it right.

I just found this thread. Could you please post the maker's marks or RZM numbers on the blades? Thanks.

Ken

I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner. I haven't been to this thread for a while.

The NSKK dagger: There are the letters RZ above an M all within a circle. To the right of the circle is: M7/19 with 1938 just below the M7/19.

The SA dagger: A circle with what appears to be a ribbon running horizontally through the center of the circle. Above the ribbon is a crown and below the ribbon are the letters C & RL. Running around the top outside of the circle is the name C. & R. LINDER. Running around the bottom outside of the circle are the words SOLINGEN-WEYER.

I don't see any markings on the army dagger blade, at all.
