Please help with identification of chain

Found this chain near Minsk, Belarus, there were fight during WW2 so it can belong to any side

Here is the photo, it's around 50cm lenght without holder

Seems it's made of brass

50 cm seems short for a handgun chain. On the other hand I have seen similar chains for whistles. Have a look at this one for comparison. https://picclick.com/WWI-Imperial-Russi ... 33399.html
