I have a damaged 2nd model naval dagger made by puma.

(Sorry for the image quality)

I was wondering if it was genuine and if so how much something like this is worth, also if I could get it restored and how much that would cost.

Original Kriegsmarine officer dagger.

I enclose an example of another dagger with its sale price, but in this case given its deteriorated condition, less than half.
It would be possible to repair it by getting a new grip, the price it would be variable according to condition and seller.

Tigerlilly0012,

the normal german designation for the piece, you are searching for is "Griffstück", this was and still is the german designation.

I would please advise you, not to add another "Griffstück", changing it would greatly reduce the collector's value.
You should also never polish this dagger to a high gloss, as you would ruin the historical patina.
Be sure to leave the naval dagger as it is.
It is precisely such damage, that characterizes the few originals, there is no question about that.

Google: "griffstück marinedolch" https://www.google.com/search?q=griffst ... era&hs=GPl

Hoped, to help you out a little bit...

Hans

P.S. Keep your bad fingers away from these historical edged weapons, that would certainly be my most important advice, unless you want to destroy values forever...

By the way, I would really like to read the history of the dagger, if you should know anything about the dagger at all..?

You may want to check this german website: https://www.kriegsmarinedolch.de

Heft (Griffstück): https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heft_(Griffstück)

Deutsches Blankwaffenforum: https://www.deutsches-blankwaffenforum.de

Very informative, and almost all questions will find an answer there...

Good luck for your further researches! :milwink:
