Yes, post 1945.

If it had the factory designation '1001' applied, was the factory where the refurbishment was carried out.
Above, MdI stands for Ministerium des Innern, service in police ( VoPos ), or border guards.

East German refurbished Karabiner 98ks very common in the hands of collectors.
