What is this German decoration?

This item was in the many things my grandfather brought home from WW2 in Europe. He was with 1st ID, 16th Reg, L Co. It looks like it was some kind of decoration he ripped off a wall. Not magnetic, kind of soft and light, pewter I guess. Anyone have any information on this?
