DEMAG trench dagger, is it a repro?

Post by rubbah » 21 Jul 2023 16:38

Hello! This is my first post on the forum, so hello!

I bought this DEMAG trench knife from my local militaria dealer. He didn't know if it was original or a repro, so he sold me it at the price of a repro (£45) the leather belt hanger looks old but is still supple, and there.is very old grease/gunk in the bayonet locking slot. I've also put a reservation/deposit on a ww2 Japanese wakizashi, but I'll post that in the correct forum. I usually have only collected cold war stuff, so my knowledge of the ins and outs of ww1/2 stuff which is commonly reproduced/faked is lacking.

I'm just wondering if you's on here might know a little more. Ill attach a picture of the knife (ah that file was too large, I'll attach another in the next post) and some close ups of the markings I took with the macro camera on my phone.

Thanks
