Mystery Weapons

Post by [Axis]KiLLa » 17 May 2002 02:47

Hi. I Have two weapons in hand. My grandfather was a Lut. In WWII and he brought back some Axis weapons. I am pretty sure they are German. He was at ausfit (not sure if thats how its spelt, its a Nazi Death Camp). He has now passed away and I didn't get a chance to ask him about it. OK Now to explaining the weapons... One is a dagger... and one is a Sword. The dagger's end is like a cone shape but cut off towards the tip which connects to the handle. On the cone it has Oak Leafs going around it (11 or 12). The handle is white and it spirals downward. Then at the end of the white part it has a metal band with some more oak leafs going around it (7). Then it comes to the part that seperates the handle from the blade. It is in the shape of an eagle with the swastika under it (very common) and at the end of the eagles wings it comes to a curl and it curls downward. The cover to the blade has a bunch of bumps... engraved into it. On the cover it has to bands going across and sticking out (where the band is to hook it to your belt or whatever :) ). They are about 2 inches apart. On them they both have a bunch of Oak Leaves and have two rings onto it. Now to the blade. The blade doesn't have any engravings on it besides the maker (Alcosa then it has a line under it with the engravings Solingen). Does anybody know what this is? ------ Now to my sword. My mother says it is just a "practice sword". But, I would still like to know from you "experts" :-P OK here goes nothing. The sword is about 2 1/2 - 2 1/4 feet long. The handle on it is black with little bands going across it they bands come out about 1mm and are about 1mm high. On the back side of the handle it has a gold colored thingy going up and down it. On that it has oak leafs all over it. With acorns. Then it has a protective bar on the front side that would, I suppose, PROTECT the hand. On that it has large oak leafs that are skinny - wide - skinny ( the same way the protector thing does). The Oak leafs are not engraved into the whole thing, there is about a 1 inch thing left at the bottom of that thingy ma bobber :) The part that seperates the blade and the handle is about 2 inches long and in the middle it has an eagle with a swastika below it, that is only about .5 inch wide. the front end of it curves downward and the other side curves downward too, but not as far, about half as far as the other one. The cover to the blade doesnt really have anything destinctive on it so I won't explain it. The blade, on the back side, has an indent that goes into the blade and goes down it a little more than half Im guessing. The maker of it is: (sorry I can't read it well so correct me if you can) something along the lines of E (with an illustration of a sword as an L or an I i guess) ckorn then under it; it says soligen.. .I think, Can someone out there please help me out with this, I would really like to get some more info on it, thanks!

Welcome to the forum! You might have more luck if you also posted this under the "Edged Weapons" section of the forum.

KEITH NAILED THE DAGGER.THE SWORD,IF I READ YOU CORRECTLY IS MADE BY CARL EICKHORN.THERE ARE DIFFRENT TYPES SO WITHOUT A PICTURE A CORRECT ID WOULD BE HARD.A FIELD MARSHALL SERIES POSSIBLY.THAT IS THE TYPE NOT THE PERSONEL WHO CARRIED THEM.AND NOT A PRACTICE SWORD MORE FOR WALKING OUT OR DRESS THAN PRACTICE.
